1. my [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] 500 HD only seems to accept irdeto 1 and cryptoworks is that correct or should it take seca, biss, viacces , nagra etc

2. if i type in constant keys manually they work OK , i tried loading in a list made in notepad via usb and it would not load so thinking i might have the incorrect format i dumped the ones i had typed into the STB then opened that list in notepad and added some new keys in the same format it would still not load the new keys. What am i doing wrong.?

I am running the sat station 1 firmware is this the problem should i go back to the skybox OEM firmware? if so where can I get that from.

despite the good picture on this box the usability combined with the p**s poor user instructions are getting very frustrating

I understand your rules on cardsharing and i do not ask for info on where and what to get in those respects. But really do need basic instructions on how to enter info into this stb

There is no official or unofficial support for softcam key files on the [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] range of receivers - Remember these are NOT an Openbox receiver - If a feature doesn't work though with the firmware you have then give another a try by all means and if it works then great and let us know what you've used that worked, but the SatStation firmware on these receivers is not like the Linux based open source receivers, it's probably best described as a 'best of' firmware that's been tried on a number of [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] receivers to check for performance as regards general use and PVR functions, but as these are closed source receivers if a feature like this doesn't work perfectly I'm afraid as much as we'd like to there is very little we can do ourselves to correct that.

Never found a real problem with with general use though to be honest, they are basic no frills receivers for sure but then so was the price, with the nice channel lists we've been treated to and the good support for the 'other' aspect and nice easy loading of updates by USB it's hard to fault for the price but naturally there's better on the market for sure but pound for pound it's not bad at all.

I appreciate what your saying Yoda the frustration comes in not knowing what is supposed to work and what is not. The documentation is to say at best flakey
if the unit only has a built in irdeto and cryptoworks cam then so be it. But at the moment im not sure if thats all it has or if I have a faulty box or the wrong firmware
If its the case that i need a viacces cam etc then fine but as it wont work with my diablo cam will it work with any others ? You see my point.
I spent many years working with Chinese suppliers on In car DVD and LCD screen equipment They can be lazy so and so's when it comes to proper documentation and support it soon focuses their minds when you dont reorder or send back some of their crap.

You can't have a faulty receiver for something that's not officially supported, so that one can be crossed off, but the other trouble you'll find is that many users that use this type of receiver at this price point are not going to be the slightest bit interested in keys and trying them these days so it becomes very hard to talk with others about what's working and what's not in respect of softcam keys.... Hold out though you might find someone on here pops along and can help (I can't myself not owned one in some months now to be honest)... I think whatever we say or do though the days of keys and updates are more or less almost forgotten about now by many and they'll be going down different ways....

With the Diablo CAM, it's quite common for that specific CAM to not work with a few receivers so that's no real major suprise and says more about the CAM than receiver probably, but it should generally be fine with official CAMS though and of course there is the built in card slot so if it's actually for use with an official card then it's fairly good for most encryptions so give that a try as well if you've not already - Can't quite remember for sure but got a feeling the card reader is one that's upside down in these as in you put contacts face up (could be wrong though, as I say been a while now).
