    What setup to buy?

I am wanting a motorised satellite setup including recording box. I am unsure what package to buy. My postcode area is pe20 area. I am wanting a box that allows me to record at least 2 channels and has the features of automatically controlling the satellite and channel selection.

Would prefer to spend £200-£600 for a full setup.

    Any help would be great.

If you are looking to be able to record two channels at once or watch one while recording another then it's a twin tuner receiver then it generally leads you towards and ideally the Linux Enigma2 receivers such as the [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] DUO, [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] and [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] 7020. The latter will probably be just outside your budget limit by around £40-50 or so when you add on the motorised dish setup but the other two [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] models should be possible. As a general rule it's considered the bigger size the dish the better but this depends on a few things such as what your location allows for dish install wise, what satellites you are looking to pull in and what brand the kit is, always stick to some decent brand names when going for your dish and motor as it'll be worth it in the long run (and they're really not that expensive these days anyway)...

Have a look at the [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] package deals from our [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] here which should be the kind of thing you're after:
[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

The only other thing to consider is the above receivers mentioned, [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] DUO and [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] don't come with a HDD built in (infact no receiver I can think of does) so the options there to add an internal 3.5" SATA drive or use an external USB or eSATA drive, so just factor that in when adding the prices up and finally the fact you'll most likely want a twin ouput [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] rather than the single output standard type unless you already have a minidish for example in which case you could use that to feed one tuner on your new receiver while having the motorised dish on the other tuner, it's quite a common setup for a UK user.

One thing I should also say is that these receivers and to a great extent ANY receiver that's new to you and you want to have setup for motorised is perfectly possible but it will also require you do some homework yourself and it can be a bit of a learning curve, but we're here to help and have some great members and guides which will help you right along the way so just as long as you're prepared to learn a little then you'll be fine

If your PE20 postcode means you are on the Fens then you are ideally placed to pull in satellites that are low on the horizon and I repeat what Yoda says about selecting a big dish. A 1 mtr dish will get good reception from 45E through to 40W and even beyond that. And I personally think a twin tuner box is a must. Have a browse of [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] for details of what isbroadcast from each satellite.
